FOOD SAFETY PROCEDURES

Food safety is a priority in the produce industry. Outbreaks of food-borne illness linked to fresh produce are a concern for everyone from consumers to growers. To eliminate these concerns about our fruit, we’ve implemented our Food Safety Program, which is based on good manufacturing practices, standard operating procedures and underlying HACCP principles. This comprehensive program is designed to be used in packing houses and cold storage areas.

Each aspect of Index Fresh’s Food Safety Program is monitored and documented, and includes:
• General sanitation
• Employee hygiene practices
• Facility and equipment cleaning practices
• Food safety training for employees
• Pest control
• Inspection of shipping vehicles
• Food safety documentation
• Traceback and recall procedures
• New bin wash

In addition to our in-house monitoring procedures, independent audits are conducted annually by third-party testing labs. Index Fresh recently completed a PrimusLabs.com third-party facility audit and received a superior rating.

Food safety issues and regulations are constantly changing and government requirements are increasing. Index Fresh’s Food Safety Program will continue to be updated and improved as dictated by new food safety recommendations.
