Hass
With its rich, buttery flavor, it’s no surprise that the Hass is the hero of the avocado world. The Hass is distinguished by an excellent taste, a pebbly exterior and a thick, leathery skin that turns black when ripe. The fruit’s relatively small seed means it delivers a large percentage of flesh that makes it easier to peel and scoop. Grown in California, Chile, and Mexico, the Hass is available year-round.

Lamb Hass

Sometimes Nature needs a hand, and the Lamb Hass is a prime example. A product of the University of California’s avocado breeding program during the mid-‘90s, the Lamb Hass is popular with growers because of its precocity, large size and high yield. Similar to the Hass, the Lamb Hass is an excellent tasting avocado that features a thick, pebbly skin that turns black when ripe. Available in the U.S. from California only, the Lamb Hass season is June through October.
